החיפושית החמישית - המתופף שלא היה

בתחילת שנת 2013 יחגוג עולם התרבות את יובל שנת ה-50 לצאת אלבומם הראשון של החיפושיות Please Please Me (משחק מילים מבריק הניתן לתרגום צולע כ-"אנא ענגיני").
הקריירה המדהימה של ארבעת המופלאים מליברפול ידועה לכל אולם מעטים יודעים כי במשך למעלה משנתיים, עד סמוך למועד הפריצה הגדולה בשנים 1962/3 - כללה הלהקה  חבר נוסף - מתופף בשם פיט בסט.
סיפור הדחתו של פיט מהלהקה רגע לפני ההצלחה העצומה נותר הכתם השחור בתולדות הלהקה, באשר אף אחד מהמעורבים בפרשה לא נתן מעולם הסבר מניח את הדעת למהלך אשר שינה לחלוטין את מסלול חייו של מר בסט, אך גם של מחליפו רינגו סטאר, ובעצם של כל חברי הלהקה הנותרים.

חיפוש קצר ביוטיוב מגלה שלל שירים והקלטות בהן ניתן לשמוע את החיפושיות בתחילת דרכן כאשר המתופף הנו פיט בסט בדיוק כמו בשיר Love Me Do בקישור הבא

המקרה של "החיפושית החמישית" תמיד עורר בי מחשבות על מה שהיה ומה יכול היה לקרות אילו... מה היה קורה אם לא הייתי משוכנע ע"י חברי דורון להירשם ללימודי משפטים, מה היה קורה אם הייתי מתמיד במקצוע, מה היה קורה אם הייתי מבריז לדייט עם סוזי...ובכלל האם החיים היו יכולים להתנהל אחרת עבורי אם הייתי בוחר לעבור בדלת מטאפורית אחת ולא באחרת.

כבר בספר משלי נאמר "רבות מחשבות בלב איש ועצת ה' היא תקום": האם נאמר כאן מפורשות כי הבחירות הרבות בעצם מדומות ואילו קיימת רק בחירה אחת, האם הכל בעולמנו נגזר מראש ?

קיימת נחמה רבה במחשבה כי מה שקרה צריך היה לקרות וכי "הכל לטובה" אחרת היינו נאלצים להעביר את שארית ימינו על הכדור הזה במחשבות אין סופיות ומייסרות על מה היה קורה אילו...

את האהבה הגדולה שלי לחיפושיות ניסיתי להנציח בצילום הבא:

זהו ניסיון לנצל את מצלמת הפנטקס ספוטמטיק (SLR) לצילום הכולל אפקט DOF כלומר שחלק מהתמונה חד וחלק מטושטש כמו בצילום הנ"ל.

הניסיון "האומנותי" לא כל כך צלח אבל אני מרוצה מהתוצאה just the same

הרס אתרים ארכיאולוגים - זכרונות מבית הכנסת בטבריה

שלום לכולכם,

לפני מספר שבועות נחרדתי לקרוא את הידיעה על השחתת אתר בית הכנסת העתיק בטבריה - אתר ארכיאולוגי בעל חשיבות רבה ויופי יוצא דופן.

היה זה היינריך היינה אשר כתב כבר בשנת 1820 כי "במקום שבו שורפים ספרים סופו שישרפו בו בני אדם" ואני לא יכול שלא להתחבר לאמירה הזו ולעשות את הקישור המתאים כי במקום בו משחיתים אתרי תרבות ומורשת לאומיים בשם הדת ומנתצים ביד גסה אוצרות אשר הופקדו בידנו ע"י אבותינו הקדמוניים סופו להפוך לאתר הקבורה של הזהות היהודית הדמוקרטית הנושאת על נס את דגל הפלורליזם ואחוות האדם.

אני משוכנע כי יערכו כל המאמצים האפשריים לתקן את תוצאות מעשה הנבלה כך שגם הדורות הבאים יוכלו להנות מנפלאות הארץ ובזו תהא נחמתנו.

התמזל מזלי לבקר לפני כשנתיים באתר בית הכנסת ולצלם ללא כל הפרעה הפסיפסים המדהימים אשר מעטרים את רצפתו ואשמח לחלוק עמכם רשמים מאותו ביקור נהדר.

התמונה אשר לפניכם  נחשבת כפנינה ייחודית באומנות הפסיפס הארצישראלית היופי שבתווי הפנים העדינים לא התעמעם למרות שחלפו יותר מ-1600 שנה ממועד היצירה.

אני אוהב במיוחד את התמונה הבאה של אריה המתואר באופן ריאליסטי ובצבעים חיים

חשוב לציין כי פסיפסים החשופים לשיניו המאכלות של הזמן נוטים להישחק ולאבד מהחיות המקורית שלהם. על מנת להחזיר ליצירות הנ"ל שמץ מחיותן עיבדתי את התמונות באמצעות תוכנה באופן אשר הגביר את הניגודיות (קונטרסט) מחד תוך הוספת אפקט רוויה (satutation) לקבלת תמונה מלאת צבעים !

Children Photography

 

Hello again my friends!

Thank you for stopping by for another post.

Today's topic is "children photography". Having 3 children of my own it is a topic close to my heart.

I strongly believe that the matter is classic and timeless. a great child's photo is an investment in childhood that will return dividends long into the future.

There are some great tips and ideas i would like to share with you but in order not to write a lengthy post, I decided to divide the discussion into two separate posts.

Welcome to part one:  

The first tip is really a "thumb rule" the ordinary shot (not the artistic kind) and it is to take the photo when the camera is leveled with the child upper body. A common mistake is to point the camera down from an adult point of view. The final outcome is not complimentary.

Here are two examples of  photos taken from a child point of view:

Children, especially the young ones, are not always self-conscious it is actually a great advantage for a photographer because it enables him to take a "true" photo – mining not a posed one.

Take a look in the example below:  

Children are so happy when they get the chance to play outdoors. They are at their best when they are riding a merry-go-round for example. I used a technique called "panning"  (I'll talk about it in a future post)  to take the following picture. It will be perfectly fine if you'll take relatively same photo using high shutter speed in order to "freeze the moment".  

Children are often hard to shoot because they are always running around hardly staying in one spot  enough time to take a decent photo. In order to deal with the said difficulty many modern cameras are equipped with special mode for children photography that enables the photographer to enjoy an active focus that follows the subject keeping him in focus all the time. Another feature of that mode is the ability to take several continuous shots with one click on the shutter release.

The photo below was taken using the "children mode" .

The Decisive Moment

Hello Again My Friends !

I hope you enjoyed my first post on "the rule of the thirds".

I would like to talk today on the subject of "The Decisive Moment" in photography.

The above term is used to describe that exact perfect moment that defines the photograph.

we all take numerous pictures of action or street scenes, but what makes a particular
photo a good one?

 in my opinion it's capturing the precise second when all the elements are coming together  to a completeness. 

in order to do so it's necessary first to compose the picture in your mind, and then to be patient until the right moment comes and to be ready to shot it  with the correct camera settings. 

It will be easy to demonstrate the matter with some photos i took along the way :

As you can see i used a fast shutter speed (1/1000) to freeze the moment. the photo was in my mind before i shot it and i took my time to take several pictures before finding the right one.

     

Another example for a decisive moment is the photo above. you can see the exact moment of the player hitting the ball and the tension on the faces of the other players. i believe that the unique angle that was chosen to the photo added to the overall outcome.

the above photo is not a regular action picture but even so it is recording a split of a second moment of a drunk guy sitting on the railing of a pool and helplessly lining back. this is in my opinion a "decisive moment".  i waited a moment or so to take the shot and i glad that the guy didn't fell into the water afterwards.

 the above street portrait is also a good example of the right moment in photography. the old man raising his eyes in the exact moment makes this one a unique portrait.

 I saved one of my favorites to the end of the post. the secret of the picture is that i saw the rider in advance and then aimed my camera to the middle of the pipe focusing on the pavement beyond. the shutter speed was set to 1/500.
The moment i saw the rider entering the frame i took the shot, and the result -  true decisive moment.

Let there be light.

Welcome friends and photography lovers to my new blog named "straightforward basic photography".

Every week or so I'll talk shortly about a different aspect of photography In a simple (and hopefully interesting) manner.

My goal is to cast light on some of the most important factors in "how to take a good picture" or how to be a "better photographer" if you like.

Along the way I'll write on slightly different subjects like the history of photography or vintage Cameras. You could suggest future topics as well.

The first topic I would like to talk about is how to compose an intense and dynamic photo using a basic composition "thumb rule" known as  "rule of the thirds".

It's very common for beginners to center their object in the middle of the frame in order to produce a well balances picture. The photos composed in that manner tend to be boring and to lack dynamic tension you can find in a good photo. 

Try to imagine that your frame (in the viewfinder or in the LCD display that you use to frame your shot) is divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines. Then, compose your object at one the intersections between the lines.

You can see in the samples below that you're able to choose every one of the four intersections depending on the overall scenery and still the final outcome is more interesting as if the object was in the middle of the frame.

When I take pictures of people or even animals I compose the eyes of my object using the "rule of the thirds" because we as viewers  are always drawn to the eyes first as we examine a photo - a practice that enhance the affectivity of the said rule .
